“A Natural Approach for Treating Depression” will include video lessons focused on four of Dr. Gordon’s main themes to treating depression and is based on Dr. Gordon’s treatment program, which he developed and has been teaching around the world for almost 40 years. Dr. Gordon’s program asserts that prescription antidepressants are often ineffective and create significant side effects. He teaches natural Self-Care techniques, such as relaxation exercises, physical exercise, proper nutrition and others, that have been proven to successfully treat depression and its symptoms.
The program allows the patient to take an active, effective role in their own healing. The series and its related downloadable resources for participants are free.
Learning Objectives of Course
This video series and the Unstuck Pack will provide you with overview lesson on four key themes of treating depression with natural techniques. It will get you started on your personal treatment program for treating depression, anxiety or stress.

Lesson 1:
An Overview of Depression and How You Can Treat it Yourself with the Help of a Guide

Key Lessons: Prescription drugs aren’t the only answer; people can use simple techniques to treat their condition; people should work with their doctor and find a guide to help them through the process; depression is not a disease, but a condition in which peoples’ lives are out of balance, or “stuck.” (Participants should read the excerpt from the Introduction of Unstuck in the Unstuck Pack.)
Lesson 2:
Relaxation/Stress Management
Premiere Date and Time: Thursday, November 20th at 8:30 EST
Now available through any one of our Web channels.
Key Lessons: Stress and depression are connected; simple relaxation exercises can help with the symptoms of depression; Dr. Gordon teaches a relaxation exercise. (The Unstuck Pack contains useful tools for this lesson.)
Lesson 3:
Exercise and Movement
Premiere Date and Time: Saturday, November 22nd at 6:30 EST (note time change)

Key Lessons: Physical exercise can significantly improve mood; Dr. Gordon provides advice on how to start an exercise program; Dr. Gordon shows a movement technique he has taught around the world.
Key Lessons: Dr. Gordon discusses a variety of other techniques that are effective in treating depression; he provides some final advice and words of encouragement for participants.

About James S. Gordon, M.D.
James S. Gordon, M.D., is the founder and director of The Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, DC.
